Minutes of Steering Group Meeting
5th June 2025
Present: Martin Calvert, Adrian Coltman, Teresa Williams.
1. Apologies for Absence
Adam & Carol Bull, David Lumb, Emily Wilde, Steve Jones-Blackett, David Miles.
2. Minutes of the Meeting Held 8th May 2025
Agreed as a true record.
3. Matters Arising
- The "Gledfest" event at Gledhow Sports & Social Club will be on Saturday 21st June 2025 Stalls can set up from 1pm for a 3pm start. FGVW will be there. Volunteers very welcome. Please let Adrian Coltman know if you wish to help.
4. Action Mornings
- Sunday 18 May 2025
Volunteers met at the new pond for completion of the footpath upgrade, planting some wildflower plugs and clearing the footpath on Gledhow Valley Road.
- Sunday 15 June 2025
Volunteers to meet at the bath house for a tidy up, footpath repairs, litter picking, bench tidying, tree thinning. Martin will be bringing a strimmer and ladder.
5. Trustees Update
The FGVW AGM will be held on 12th June 2025. There are no new nominations for trustees. Teresa Williams will act as teller for online votes and for on the night counts.
6. Project to Eradicate Bamboo and Knotweed and Create Wetland off Gledhow Lane
Steve Jones-Blackett to liaise with David Miles regarding further planting and dead hedge stakes on Gledhow Valley Road. The Steering Group would like to have an area adjacent to the gate leading to the new pond planted/seeded.
7. Project to Refurbish Footpaths
In the May meeting the Group asked for a site meeting with Jeremy from Groundwork to discuss specifications for paths. We are still waiting for a reply from Jeremy.
The project is on hold until we can agree materials and costs. Also, the Group would like to discuss lake planting and new wetland planting before proceeding.
8. Water Quality Monitoring
Adrian Coltman met with Emily from Yorkshire Water for a very productive meeting.
9. AOB
- The FGVW stall at the upcoming Green Fair (on Sunday 13th July 2025) will be at the entrance to Beck Pasture. There will be 2-3 pop-ups and the Group will be selling merchandise, cards, nest boxes, books, etc. Teresa Williams will have a tombola. We will happily accept books for our stalls at the Green Fair and Chapel Allerton Festival.
- Adrian Coltman has repaired handrails near the jetty, filled in a hole in the jetty and repaired path edging near Dorothy's bench.
