2. Minutes of the Meeting Held 9th April 2026

Agreed as a true record.

3. Action Mornings

  • April's Action Morning.
30 people attended. We performed dead hedging and cleared thistles. Issue with footpath to bathhouse. Perhaps consult council as it's 350m long. Ask them to restore the footpath. Next action morning 10th may. We'll hold it by the lake near the jetty. Move existing dead hedge so we can plant some live hedging. Brambles to cut back up Audrey's field. To increase the meadow size. Request for future action mornings, that willing volunteers act as team leaders to help be a focal point for disperate groups.

4. Project to Refurbish Footpaths

FCC community fund application deadline mid august. LCC parks and countryside have to submit the application which is a benefit for us. Awaiting response on 2 other requests. Postcode lottery meet 1st June. Womble Dixon. Lawyers who are also interested in supporting us. The project will focus on 3 areas. Initial focus is the allerton grange way. Bracken wood community association are also keen to be involved to see how they can support the project.

5. Wetland Extension

The wetland has developed a leak so we need to protect with layer of bentonite. We have the funds to get the clay installed. Hopefully ready for the green fair.

6. Volunteering

National volunteering day in October. We'll approach them for support but the feeling is we may miss out due to our lack of toilet facilities. Other groups are interested namely, RETAS and local cubs group. All welcome to join these days.

Upcoming events requiring Volunteers.

  • Gledfest: 20th June 3pm
  • CA Arts Festival 5th-6th September
  • Gledfest: 20th June 3pm
  • Bathhouse opening for Heritage Open Day 13th September 1.30-4:00 pm

We also need to update the display photos if anyone can support with this?

We're looking to produce a regular (quarterly) newsletter to share the work of the group and be produced regularly. We're looking for a volunteer to own this. 7. New Website Design

The Green Fair website is now live. The plan is for the Friends website to become a parent site to the Green Fair, but most likely after July 12th. Mike is hoping to work next on the redesign of FoGVW to bring it over to the Green Fair template. We discussed the possibility of a focus group to review priorities for the new website. Idea suggested that if we don't keep all the archive material we at least have a section detailing the timeline of the group.

8. Trustees Meeting

No update.

9. Water Quality Monitoring

We've decided to join the sewage campaign network. A group of like minded water quality groups with a common goal Have started network meetings on June 1st. We had a meeting with council highway dept on Monday. To discuss how silt is running into the beck. A supporter doing a PhD in roadside gullies. We're aware that Zinc and lead levels are very high. Gully on allerton grange way is quite poor. Has been reported to env agency. We've done a freedom of info request to Env Agency and Yorkshire Water to see what action they've taken.

Josh raised an idea of an artist who looks to use art to raise the visibility of issues like this.

We have over 3000 signatures via Facebook on our water quality issues.

10. AGM

Monday 15th June at 7:30 in the original chapel allerton methodist church.

11. AOB
